The weekend will be a series of conversations and interactive workshops led by 3 women of diverse cultural backgrounds.
The Kalahari Bushman Elder: Lydia Kruiper. A member of the Khomanisan clan from Witdraai in the Kalahari (Kgalagadi) region of South Africa, which borders Namibia and Botswana. A holder of desert wisdom and traditional plant medicine knowledge. Her profound understanding of tracking, healing, craft, and community wellbeing represents one of humanity’s oldest continuous cultures. She is also a midwife.
The Indigenous Australian Woman: Rosemary Nabulwad. A senior Kurduwil traditional owner from the Kunwinjku nation in West Arnhem Land is a keeper of ancient song lines and traditional weaving practices, with a connection to Country and community traditions that spans generations. She is a senior ranger at Wardekken Land Management, a Churchill Fellow and Indigenous Health Advocate
The South African-Australian Woman: René Bahloo. An English-speaking white South African by birth, now residing in South-East Queensland, Australia a weaver and wisdom-wellbeing facilitator, her journey bridges colonial history with authentic relationships to both Indigenous African and Australian landscapes and communities. She embodies the possibility of respectful cultural collaboration. She is also an artist, a holistic psychotherapist (known as a ‘soul whisperer’) and serves as Lydia’s translator from Afrikaans.
